RYAN LEVIN, AMFT

When sexual issues and harmful behaviors seize control of our lives, it’s easy to lose our sense of self and feel untethered. Depression, anxiety and substance abuse often follow. I support my clients as they work through sex addiction, porn addiction, intimacy issues and sexual dysfunction, as well as the overwhelming toxic shame which so often lies beneath. I also help couples as they navigate the challenges of infidelity, non-monogamous relationships and general disconnection. I encourage them as they examine their attachment patterns, allowing them to create a more secure bond through acceptance and respect for each other’s needs.

I trained at Southern California Counseling Center, where I saw individuals and couples, while also co-facilitating substance abuse and domestic violence groups. In addition to my work at Psychotherapy Works, I also work on the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline and lead workshops on suicide prevention. Prior to becoming a therapist, I wrote for television and film. I empathize with the common feelings of rejection, failure and loneliness, and can help to keep you moving forward in the face of these creative blocks.

I find therapy to be most beneficial when done relationally and collaboratively. Because my clients are the experts on their lives, I take my cues from them, eager to learn who and what they hold most dear. I utilize various therapeutic approaches including narrative, cognitive behavioral and solution-focused, always tailoring the work to meet each client’s unique needs. I look to empower my clients, helping them use their own strengths to expand the possibilities of their stories and meet their goals. Though it may feel like it, I assure you — you are not alone. I want to know about you, and I’d like to help.
